The Road to Entrepreneurship: 10 years ago, 5 years ago

This year marks the anniversary of my start on the road to entrepreneurship. A decade ago, I embarked on a journey to learn about business and journalism. Half a decade ago, I started working in TV news. By 2007, I became an entrepreneur. In 2009, I earned my MBA degree with a concentration in entrepreneurship.

My reflection over the past decade begins with my early youth. It began with my participation in a state pageant, receiving full-scholarships to acclaimed business/journalism trainings at private colleges, and working at a leadership capacity that included a staff along with a private office at 17 years-old.

In 2005, I started working at an ABC/NBC affiliate station. During my time there, I was able to work in production and within the field. Little did I know, this would be a foundation for my company's SEO branch.

My company, JMK Notary & Services, continues to expand offering clients assistance in business marketing techniques. 2010 looks to be the year that all previous experience will be utilized. My company provides  press releases and Internet based service skills. My other branch requires business transaction fraud prevention. The road to entrepreneurship includes work experience in state government, news media and commercial sales management.

The trip to becoming an entrepreneur includes various positions. Each experience taught me something, like public speaking or interviewing skills. The past allows me to grow today. For instance, my business has earned awards and distinction. However, my company gives back to the community monthly with a free seminar at a non-profit organization. It is vital to share what you learn when possible. I approach this new decade of being an entrepreneur with vigor and anticipation.
